Principles of Management

 

Course Introduction:

This course is an introduction to the management function. It will focus on the theory and fundamental concepts of management including planning, organization, leadership, and control. This course will review the evolution of management thought, function and practice and will stress current approaches and emerging concepts.

Course objective:

Knowledge on the principles of management is essential for all kinds of people in all kinds of organizations. The object of this course is

  1. To provide adequate basic understanding about the managerial functions like planning, organizing, staffing, leading and controlling to students
  2. To provide a basis of understanding to the students with reference to working of business organization through the process of management.

Course outcome:

On completion of the course the student will understand the basic principles of management -will acquaint himself with management process, functions and principles. Student will also get the idea about new developments in management.

Module – III   Organizing

Nature and purpose of organizing – Organization structure – Formal and informal groups organization – Line and Staff authority – Depart mentation – Span of control – Centralization and Decentralization – Delegation of authority – Staffing – Selection and Recruitment – Orientation – Career Development – Career stages – Training – Performance Appraisal.
