Course Preamble: Acquisition of Language skills is an essential part of professional studies. As a result of globalization and the availability of jobs in Multinational Corporation, the learning of English language has become essential for professional growth. Every student today is expected to comprehend and express in the English language. This requires a systematic development of all the four language skills i.e. Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. This course will address all language skills, with emphasis on grammar, comprehension, writing skills, speaking and interactive skills. In addition to this the students need to acquire knowledge of legal terminology foreign expression legal maxims and basic legal vocabulary so, that they are able to understand legal documents and Judgments. Course – I and Course – II aim at facilitating students to understand clearly, write correctly, express accurately, speak more fluently and thus become better equipped to participate actively and skillfully in their law school classes seminars and project presentations.
Course Objective: To make students to:
- participate actively in discussions, debates, & simulations
- give impromptu speeches and prepared presentations
- read, comprehend and summarize articles
- learn common legal vocabulary and collocations as well as key legal concepts
- learn typical formats for writing and practice writing skills
- prepare power-point presentations
- receive extensive feedback on their oral and written skills
